Clear Thinking Brings Rewards for Josefin Lund and Marjan Safai

Josefin Lund proved to be the backbone of the Swedish success beating both Brazilians whilst in the opening duel of the proceedings, Marjan Safai overcame Amanda Marques. It was success for Sweden and success for Stockholm. Both girls live in the country’s capital city and both girls attend the Raoulwallenberg School, an English school.

Spur for Victory
Marjan Safai gave the European visitors the start they needed by beating Amanda Marques, she lost the opening game before winning a close second game that proved to be the spur for victory.

Chilean Duo in Top Gear at El Salvador Junior Open

Furthermore, they won every match in three straight games. Matias Contreras overcame Marcelo Aguirre, Felipe Olivares defeated Danilo Toma and the two young Chilean teenagers combined to win the doubles.

Juan Antonio Vila in Form as the Dominican Republic Tests England

England secured a three-one success but the teenager from Santo Domingo was a thorn in their side. Alongside Emil Santos, the duo extended Paul Drinkhall and Darius Knight the full five games distance in the crucial doubles and in the singles he brought the best out of Paul Drinkhall, the European number one ranked junior player.

“Against Danny I felt my feeling was good, my short game was good, I was able to stop him attacking”, said Juan Vila. “I tried to be the first to attack, I tried to be positive.”

England Show their Class but Honour in Defeat for Ecuador

On the morning of Friday 17th August 2007 at the El Salvador Junior Open it was defeat for the young man from Guayaquil but there was honour in defeat.

The Ecuadorians lost to England by three matches to nil but they were facing the newly crowned European champions and Alberto Miño presented enough evidence to suggest that he can, in time, compete with the very best.

The duo from the island that has an ever growing group of young players who are proving most competitive at international level, beat the number four seeds in their second group match of the day. They overcame Marie-Andrée Levesque of Canada and Olena Sowers of the United States by three matches to nil.

The victory secired the Puerto Ricans first place in Group Four.

Safe Passages for Leading Boys’ Teams on Opening Day in El Salvador

Meanwhile, the third seeded duo of Colombia’s Juan Restrepo and Cuba’s Andy Pereira enjoyed a trouble successful day as did the fourth seeds, the Dominican Republic’s Emil Santos and Juan Antonio Víla.

Argentine Duo Once Show their Worth

In San Salvador, on the first day of play Thursday 16th August 2007 at the El Salvador Junior Open, the latest tournament on the ITTF World Junior Circuit, Ariel Treplitzky was an integral member of the Argentine team. The South American team recorded victories over both El Salvador `D’ and Sweden in the open stage of the Cadet Boys’ Team event.

However, he was upstaged by his compatriot, Jonathan Solano, the latter remained unbeaten in both contests.

Swedish Efforts Appreciated at ITTF Training Camp in El Salvador

High numbers attended in 2005 and once again that was the situation when Emmanuel Christiansson returned to lead the Training Camp in 2007. Over one hundred players attended the programme which started on Monday 13th August and finished on Wednesday 15th August; the Swedish coach was delighted, just as he had been earlier.

Theme
Five sessions were held for boys and five for girls; the sessions on the first two days lasted ninety minutes each, whilst on the Wednesday each group had a two hour session.

El dentista de cuarenta y cuatro años, Francis Herold proveniente de Haití dejó las costas de El Salvador siendo un hombre más sabio después de haber asistido al Curso de Gerencia de Torneos en la ciudad capital, San Salvador el lunes 14 y el martes 15 de agosto de 2007.

El fue uno de los veintiún estudiantes provenientes de los países Latinoamericanos que asistió al curso bajo la dirección de Raúl Calin, Gerente de Competición de la ITTF.

Julio Calderón, un joven con una sed insaciable por el Tenis de Mesa

Con once años de edad Julio Calderón fue el joven que atrajó la mirada de Emanuel Christiansson en el Campamento Elite de Entrenamiento de la ITTF en El Salvador el martes 14 de agosto de 2007.

Un nativo de la ciudad capital, San Salvador y estudiante del Colegio Augusto Walte, Julio Calderón claramente disfruta cada segundo del programa de entrenamiento y como Oliver Twist regresará a pedir más. Entrenado bajo el cuidado de Carlos Lovo, la emergente estrella Latinoamericana mostró las cualidades necesarias para avanzar al nivel más alto, sobresale su simpatía.
